Coronavirus Update from the Academy Facebook Group

March 16, 2020 - As you are all well aware, the Coronavirus updates have progressively changed and it has come to the time in which the Academy of Performing Arts has decided to CANCEL ALL CLASSES, effective today and until APRIL 6th, 2020.

We are going to continue to monitor the situation closely, and we will assess the situation over the next few weeks and update you with any decisions regarding class times after April 6th, 2020.

Currently, we are working with our instructors in providing virtual lessons to our dancers and we will be in touch with details soon.

Miss Luanna will be in touch with her instructors and also the actors/actresses regarding your rehearsals.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding through this difficult time.

More information to come...

Mark May 2nd and 3rd on your calendars! (Poster)

On those dates the ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS will celebrate its 19th Annual Theatre Performance with an original production of ROXELLA: A Modern-Day Cinderella Story written, directed, and produced by Luanna Luxton Armstrong.

Roxella is a light-hearted comedy set in the height of the disco era. Come with Roxella from the family farm to the glamour of New York City as she overcomes adversity and learns that life’s real treasures come from within.

The dancers, actors, dazzling costumes, and props, along with classical and top-of-the-charts contemporary music and dance styles create a unique one-of-a-kind theatre experience for young and old alike. Erika Laitinen-Odbert, Kayla Price and Ali Brand are choreographers for the dance numbers. The talented dancers of all ages performing ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip hop, acrobatics, and cabaret are woven into the fabric of the show and enrich the story.

Tim Ellis is the voice of the ENCHANTED SCARECROW who narrates the tale. Lindsay Ellis brings charm and excitement to the role of ROXELLA. The self-centered, overbearing STEP MOTHER and STEP SISTERS are delightfully and comically portrayed by Lisa Chambers, Isabella Stratton and Tiffeney Stratton. Donna Pauquette is the enchanting FAIRY GODMOTHER. Eric Fleming brings a comedic note as the no-nonsense GODFATHER. STUART PRINCE, New York City’s most eligible bachelor is brought to life by dancer, actor and guest artist Trask Reinhart. Our adorable MINI PRINCE CHARMING is Owen Suggitt.

Once again, the Academy is proud to acknowledge the enthusiasm and support of the whole community, and the many contributors not only to this presentation but to all of our past productions.
